This Pousada is within the converted building originally housing the Royal Guard of Queen Maria I of Portugal in her Palace at Queluz, just outside Lisbon. The Palace was originally visualised as a miniature version of the famous Versailles Palace in France. Although more humble in size and style this structure has an alluring quality and personality. It is very often used by the State for important meetings and ceremonial banquets. Its restaurant the Cozinha Velha is renowned for its preparation of traditional Portuguese cuisine with a fine dining presentation. This Pousada is only available when the State has no official engagement planned and has twenty four rooms and two suites.
The Pousada is approximately 17 kms from Lisbon Airport.
