This Pousada is an ideal location to tour this historic area and view the many monuments that record the origins of the country of Portugal. The building in which the Pousada resides was originally constructed in 1154 as the Convento dos Agostinhos. The impressive structure has been carefully rebuilt so as to house the present Pousada surrounded by charming gardens, grottos and fountains. Guimarães was the founding town and the capital of Portugal until it was moved much later to the south and to Lisbon. There are forty nine rooms and five suites with a restaurant and bar.
The Pousada is approximately 54 kms. from Porto Airport.
