A 16th century Nunnery nestling the low hills in the middle of the Alentejo has been carefully restored and converted into an attractive Pousada. It offers charm, tranquillity, and rest from the bustle of everyday life. It is located just to the north of the village of Arraiolos which has gained international fame since the 17th century for the quality of its hand woven carpets. It is recommended that a visit be made to one of the carpet showrooms to understand the way in which the local villagers conscientiously follow old traditional designs. The Pousada also makes an ideal location to explore the attractive countryside and sample its culture and local cuisine. There are thirty rooms and two suites and in the ample grounds there is a swimming pool and a tennis court.
