Hotel Faro has been completely reconstructed and only reopened in the summer of 2002 provided a much needed modern and very comfortable 4-Star Hotel. Located in the city’s principal square and in the very heart of this ancient and historic capital of the Algarve.
Hotel Faro being geographically in the centre of the Algarve it provides the ideal base to explore east to the Spanish border and west to Sagres, both so different in character. It is also very convenient for travellers using the International Airport which is only a distance of 5 kilometres.
In front of the Hotel is a small Marina and from here visitors can choose a boat trip to one of the nearby islands with their fine white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. Alternatively, for guests not wishing to drive the Railway Station is only 500 metres and the trains take travellers to both ends of the coast, and to Lisbon.
Hotel Faro has 90 rooms, many with views either over the attractive and distinctive Algarvian roofs, or to the sea over the Nature Reserve of Ria Formosa. From our roof terraced bar and restaurant the view is outstanding.
Every room is provided with all the amenities to be expected of a modern 4-Star Hotel including air-conditioning, mini-bar, direct phone dialling, safes, and cable TV. For the immediate convenience of guests there is a selection of shops on the first floor and a secured underground parking facility for 70 cars.
Faro is a small administrative capital since 1756 and has attractive ancient buildings, museums and outdoor cafés. Guests have only to walk out of the Hotel to immediately be in the town’s main shopping street, or a few steps further on to pass though a Moorish arch in the walls and into the old preserved district of the City.
Faro has a selection of cinemas, an active cultural scene, and many small and reasonably priced restaurants offering a selection of fresh fish and other tasty regional dishes.
