Course Description
Being one of the grandfathers of golf courses in Europe the course
is bound in tradition. It was founded by the old British families
trading in port wine and in need of some active diversion. Lying
only 17 kilometres to the south of the town it is within easy reach.
It has narrow fairways and is relatively short in comparison with
todays lengths. The two most challenging holes are the fourth
and the eleventh. The latter, a par-5, is some 494 metres. It is at
this Club that the oldest competition in the golfing world that is
played without any history of an interruption having occurred. This
is the "Skenffington Cup" that was first played in 1891.
